Questions & Answers for UK student visa

Q no 1) How long can I stay in the UK on a student visa?

Ans) You can stay for the duration of your course. This could range from a few months for short courses to several years for undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. If you want to extend your stay for further studies, you must apply for a visa extension before your current visa expires.

Q no 2) Can I work while studying in the UK?

Ans) Yes, most student visas allow you to work part-time during term time (usually up to 20 hours per week). However, there are restrictions on the type of work you can do (e.g., you cannot be self-employed or work as a professional sportsperson).

Q no 3) Do I need to prove my English proficiency?

Ans) Yes, unless you come from a majority English-speaking country or your course is taught in English. The most commonly accepted test is the IELTS, though TOEFL and other recognized tests may also be accepted.

Q no 4) How much money do I need to show for my student visa application?

Ans) The required amount depends on where you’ll be studying. If you’re in London, you need to show that you have £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months). For studies outside London, it’s £1,023 per month. Additionally, you need to prove you have enough funds for your tuition fees.

Q no 5) What happens if my student visa is refused?

Ans) If your visa is refused, you will receive a reason for the refusal. In some cases, you can appeal the decision, or you can reapply with corrected documents.

Q no 6) Can I bring my family with me?

Ans) Depending on the level of your course and your circumstances, you may be able to bring your spouse, partner, or children as dependents on your student visa. However, there are certain requirements for dependents as well.

Q no 7) Can I change my course or institution after getting the student visa?

Ans) If you want to switch courses or institutions, you must notify the Home Office and may need to apply for a new visa. Not informing them could lead to your visa being revoked.
